Can have several meanings. The most common held meaning is it's being the 13th letter of the alphabet "M" and stands for Marijuana or Meth. It's also known to stand for the original or "Mother" chapter of an M/C. In the last few years, many places are saying the "M" stands for Motorcycle.
In the "Ese"/ Mexican community "13" is often used to represent the "South Side" and "La Eme" (Mexican Mafia).

Thor's hammer

Thor's hammer is recognised as one of the most distinctive religious symbols of the heathen Norse, and for a time was the chief rival of the Christian cross among the peoples of Medieval Scandinavia and Iceland. It was celebrated in Scandinavian mythology as the primary defence of gods and men against destruction at the hands of the fearsome frost-giants. Art, archaeology and folklore attest to the remarkable endurance of the hammer symbol, from the Bronze Age to the present day, not only as a significant religious motif, but also as a powerful ritual device, closely associated with the cult of Thor.

Thor's hammers of many different styles are known, from simple shapes in iron or bronze to elaborately crafted works of silver with staring eyes and bearded faces, sometimes suspended on rings and twisted chains. The rings are miniature versions of those kept in the temples of Thor, upon which oaths were sworn and contracts were sealed, so that the wrath of Thor would fall upon those who broke their agreements. The chains, made of twisted wire and sometimes ending in monstrous heads, recall Jormangand, the Midgard Serpent, the monstrous offspring of Loki, whose coils encircle the world, and with whom Thor does battle in a famous episode from Hymiskvida, a scene which is found carved on a memorial stone from Altuna, Sweden, and another stone found under Gosforth Church, Cumberland. Many other memorial stones incorporate hammer designs, such as one example from Stenkvista, Sweden, which shows a hammer hanging from a thong-like serpent design. Often the stones bear runic inscriptions containing the formula "Thur uiki..." (from ON Thor vigja) or "May Thor hallow...", found in such compositions as "May Thor hallow this memorial", or "May Thor hallow these runes", or even "May Thor, the Almighty God, take to himself the body which lies under this stone".

Thor's hammer represents heroism, nobility, self-reliance, and honor. It’s a symbol with a history that extends back a thousand years to pre-Christian Europe. And adherents of Odinism, the religion that Thor’s hammer represents, tend to make natural soldiers. Oh, and it also shares a pretty strong cultural heritage with a superhero who is, in his own weird, Technicolor, space viking way, as American as apple pie. How strange would it be, then, if the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs--the organization that oversees cemeteries dedicated to U.S. veterans and ultimately says which symbols can be used therein to represent your religious faith--had a problem with Thor's hammer?

biker jewelry classfication

The biker culture became popular throughout the world after the 1950´s. It started with various groups interested in motorcycles. But what they love even more is the way they feel when riding their bikes. The biker lifestyle is about freedom, about the rejection of any authority and about discovering new values than the traditional ones.

Even if bikers are not known as fashionable people they have became known through various symbols and signs. Black became representative for the lonely riders, one reason being that black leather jackets, black boots and leather trousers are very often used by them. They even adopt unusual hairstyles from completely shaving their heads, to having long hair or dyeing it red or green. It is all about breaking the social standards.

Among the symbols usually encountered on motorcycles, in the clothes or tattooed on the skin of bikers there are various skulls, flames or signs inspired from tribal tattoos. They also appear in the jewels worn by them. The metals used for these jewels are most often silver or with a silver aspect. Gold or golden jewels are sometimes encountered but gold white gold is preferred.

A trip in the world of biker jewelry might be an interesting voyage. The main idea is to create art from the aspects which are not considered to be good or beautiful. The skull appears very often in the design of these jewels. It may be a human skull, an animal skull sometimes with horns or simply a monstrous skull with fangs or with an evil expression around the face. In other cases skeletal hands may be represented holding different objects like the earth, a heart or an eye.

There are bracelets, earrings, rings or key-chains meant for bikers which can be purchased from shops in the real or the virtual world as wholesale jewellery. From flaming crosses to spiders building a web, from wolves to dragons you can purchase your favorite items which better represent the expression of a certain feeling of yours.

Why choose Stainless steel to make the jewelry?

Why choose Stainless steel

Stainless Steel is essentially a low carbon steel to which chromium has been added. It is this addition of chromium, in amounts greater than 12%, that gives the steel its unique 'stainless', corrosion resisting properties.

The chromium content of the steel allows the formation of a tough, adherent, invisible, corrosion resisting chromium oxide film on the steel surface. If damaged mechanically or chemically this film is self healing, provided that oxygen, even in very small amounts, is present. The corrosion resistance, as well as other useful properties of the steel is enhanced by increased chromium content and the addition of other elements such as molybdenum, nickel and nitrogen.

Stainless Steel's healing characteristics

Long Term Value

When the total life cycle costs are considered, stainless steel is often the least expensive option

Low Maintenance Costs

Stainless Steel normally only requires a periodic wash using a dilute solution of household detergent and water. Surfaces should be washed with a soft sponge and water.

Ease of Fabrication

Modern steel manipulation techniques mean that stainless steels can be cut, welded, formed and fabricated as readily as traditional steels and other materials.

Corrosion Resistance

Lower alloy grades resist corrosion in normal atmospheric and potable water environments, while the more highly alloyed grades can resist corrosion in many acids and alkaline solutions, and some chloride bearing environments, properties which are widely in process plants.

Strength

The mechanical properties of stainless steels allow thinner sections to be used than with other materials, thus reducing weight without compromising strength. Austenitic grades work harden with cold working and duplex steels allow for reduced thicknesses over traditional grades. Substantial cost savings therefore result as well as increased competitiveness with alternative materials.

Hygiene

Internationally recognised as by far the most hygienic surface for the preparation of foods. The unique surface of stainless steel has no pores or cracks to habour dirt, grime or bacteria. This cleansability far exceeds other surfaces makes it the first choice for strict hygienic conditions, such as hospitals, commercial kitchens, abattoirs and other food and beverage processing plants.

Aesthetic Appearance

The bright, easily maintained surface of stainless steel provides an attractive and contemporary appearance, ideal for a wide and growing range of applications

The jewelry should be polished to a reflective shine (mirror finish),

Free from rough edges, tool marks, and wire-drawing lines and pitting which are present in the surface of the steel when it arrives from the mill. When polished, true 316L is a white, not grey, metal. Under-polishing will be most evident along the inside of the ring where polishing is most difficult.

316L arrives from the steel manufacturer at specified degrees of

hardness. Most jewelry manufacturers use the least-hard (1/4 hard) steel

available for rings. Working the steel and forming the steel into rings hardens it to some degree. Annealing, a controlled heating and cooling process performed in a vacuum, yields a more flexible steel, resistant to metal fatigue. Most piercers and jewelry manufacturers agree that steel rings should be annealed to some degree or made from annealed wire because an annealed ring is easier to safely and quickly manipulate for insertion; pliers are often unnecessary for manipulating thinner gauge rings. However, the softer (more annealed) the ring, the easier it is scratched by tools or simply by daily wear. The trade-off of using non-annealed rings is that harder rings require tools to manipulate, increasing the chance of scratching the jewelry during insertion. Very hard rings cannot be torqued open at all; bending can cause the ring to break or create fractures invisible to the unaided eye which can trap bacteria.

biker jewelry designers

Define: Biker jewelry (pronunciation: 'bi-ker 'ju-el-re noun) – biker jewelry, or rock 'n' roll jewelry, is less conservative than various types of jewelry and carries more weight and substance. Biker jewelry is easily identifiable owing to its bold statement and trademark masculine look, often created using thick and heavy precious metals, especially sterling silver. Artists in this field often utilize statuesque motifs inspired by old gothic and medieval churches as well as Christian sacred arts. The most popular jewelry pieces are the "cross pendant" and the "skull ring". It is not uncommon to find a one-pound sterling silver wallet chain made by a famous biker jewelry designer. The combination of leather (sometimes alligator or snake skins), silver and bold designs make up the essential elements of the born to be wild image. The good thing is you do not have to be a biker, or live the biker lifestyle, to wear and appreciate biker jewelry. The biker represents the ability to ride free, to flaunt your own style without boundaries and to live on your own time. Wearing biker jewelry is a statement of freedom and independence.

The biker jewelry of today has evolved from the classic wallet chain and skull ring into highly intricate, custom, handcrafted, beautiful pieces of wearable art made in sterling silver and other precious metals. In the world of biker jewelry, boldness, designs and motifs matter. Commonly used motifs include dogs, eagles, skulls, daggers, roses, snakes, wings, stars, crosses, lion heads, dragons, and flames. Aficionados of biker jewelry treasure good silver designs just like tattoo lovers value great ink designs. Patina on silver provides beautiful black and silver contrasts like no other metals. It can bring out the depth and detail of intricate designs, a look that silver fans adore.

Los Angeles and Tokyo are the biker jewelry capitals of the world. Biker jewelry lovers are known as "silver freaks" in Japan. The first Japanese to admire biker jewelry were young tourists visiting Los Angeles in the 1990's.

Today, jewelry has become an important staple to any well-dressed man’s wardrobe, with sterling silver becoming the metal of choice. The combination of leather, silver and bold designs make up the essential elements of the biker image.

Increasingly, men and women alike are being drawn to biker-inspired fashion. Designers are answering to the call by offering new lines for men and women that include biker-style leather jackets, clothing, baseball caps, shirts, handbags, accessories and, of course, jewelry. The Proper Way to Wear a Masonic Ring

The Proper Way to Wear a Masonic Ring

Q. "What is the proper way to wear a masonic ring? Should the points of the compasses be toward or away from the body?

If you were hanging the American flag, would you put the stars down? The same holds true of the masonic ring. Usually it is a gift, and has sentimental value for the wearer. It should look right side up to him. masonic ring are therefore worn with the points of the compasses toward the wearer."

A. This subject is one on which Grand Lodges have made no regulation and popular opinion is divided. We must therefore reason from analogy. When the emblem of the square and compasses is displayed on a building, pennant, button, watch charm, etc., universal custom requires the points of the compasses point downward.

When displayed on the Altar they point away from the Master. As the Master from his station views the compass from the Altar of his Lodge, the points are from, not towards him. As the wearer of a compass watch charm views it, the points are down adn away from his eyes. In a similar way as he views the emblem on his masonic ring the points should be down or away from his eyes.

The square is the symbol of earthly, the compasses of heavenly perfection. As a combined emblem the ends of the square point up as a symbol of man's aspirations toward God; the points of the compasses are down to represent heavenly qualities coming down from God to earth. Therefore it would seem that the proper way to wear a ring would be that in which its symbolism is best expressed: namely, that in which, when the hand is held in its usual position the points of the compasses are towards the earth and away from the wearer's eyes.

Thus it will be seen that our conclusion does not agree with the writer in Temple Topics. He truly says that in hanging an American flag we would not put the starts down, but in hanging a compasses or a square and compasses he surely would put the points of the compasses down. When so worn they all serve the same purposes, and by no means the least of these purposes is to announce to the world the proud wearer is a Mason.

in the biker world what does 13-69 mean?

The meaning of a masonic ring

What is the meaning of a masonic ring ?

Masonic rings are popular among men because they have been a seal of distinction for centuries. Modern day Freemasons wear their rings as a symbol of loyalty to their Mission and their Values.

To understand the true meaning of these handsomely crafted rings it is important to explore a bit more about their Mission and Values. As a curious minded person, one should never hesitate to ask the wearer of a ring about it's meaning so that you can receive a personal explanation, but in a nut shell the Mission is that each man has a responsibility to improve himself while still being devoted to his family, faith, country, and fraternity. The Values of the Freemasons which reflect their Mission are comprised of high ethics, a tolerance for differences in religion, cultures, ethnicities, and social / educational backgrounds.

In addition, one should strive for personal growth, philanthropy, a strong sense of family, and freedom as described in the United States Constitution. The ring of a Freemason is one way that they can recognize each other in public. It is an outward sign that they are a part of the world's oldest fraternity and that they share similar values of this brotherhood. Simply put, the ring is kind of like a discrete version of a secret handshake!

SKULL SYMBOL AND THE SKULL JEWELRY

A skull is one of the most powerful and oldest symbols known to mankind; therefore, it’s not surprising that skull jewelry has evolved into a popular fashion trend. Among these types of jewelry are skull engagement rings, skull bell button rings, and other skull rings for women. For the past many years, men have also embraced the trend. Unlike various other accessories, skull jewelrysupports a man’s masculinity. The reality is that people wear skull jewelry for completely different reasons. While some believe that wearing accessories with skulls may help them obtain good luck and fortune, others associate the skull with deeper meanings.

Toughness and Bravery
Throughout the Elizabethan Period in Europe, rings that featured a “Death’s Head Skull” or a skull without the jaws were a reflection of one’s acceptance in the societal underworld. Inspired by the symbolism of skull jewelry during previous centuries, today’s motorcycle gangs, gun clubs, and other seemingly rebellious groups often wear skull jewelry to signify their membership. Although sometimes skull rings for men can be mistakenly associated with danger, this type of jewelry actually represents toughness and bravery. Many members in these groups wear skull jewelry as a testament to their courage in the face of adversity. Men also wear skull rings to increase confidence, show masculinity, and display inner strength.

Celebration of Life

In ancient times, some civilizations such as the Egyptians and the Aztecs viewed the skull as a symbol of the cycle of death and rebirth. When preparing for ceremonies, many members of these groups would use actual bones to pierce through regions of the skin and to create attractive jewelry. The modern Mexican holiday known as Dia de los Muertos or “Day of the Dead” have adopted variations of these Egyptian and Aztecs traditions into their celebrations. Additionally, some people celebrate their loved ones’ past lives by wearing skull jewelry, which can be a testament to their belief in life after death. Accessories with skulls can also represent a celebration of a person’s own life or a representation of their rebirth or transformation.

Fashion and Appeal
Many people who wear skull jewelry are simply drawn to the fashion appeal of the products. Some men and women even purchase designer skull rings with gold, silver, gemstones or diamonds to flaunt their expensive taste. Since there are many underlying meanings related to the skull, the fashion industry has embraced the trend wholeheartedly. Most companies recognize that many men and women can identify with the skull; therefore, these fashion-based businesses continue to produce attractive jewelry that feature the bold structure for a costly price.

The skull is one of the most attractive and fashionable structures, but for some people, skull jewelry is more than just a bold accessory. With its deep meanings and exceptional versatility, skull jewelry promises to remain a popular trend for a long time.

The versatility of the structure also adds to the appeal of the skull jewelry for many users. Some jewelry designers enjoy using the skull as its own design while others creatively integrate the structure into pieces of complex art. Visages of the skull have been seamlessly integrated with the following components:

  • Crossbones: Symbolizes eternity, danger, or poison
  • Crosses: Represents mankind’s beginning
  • Butterflies: Signifies the changing nature of life
  • Snakes: Portrays a depiction of immortality and/or knowledge of the next world
  • Wings: Signifies the freedom that is associated with the release of the dead from their physical form into a freer spiritual entity.
  • Bows: Represents the recent feminine embrace of the skull and its connotations

Heavy Metal jewelry

Heavy Metal jewelry has become increasingly popular in the fashion world as it continues its appeal to the biker and rocker subcultures.

The history of Heavy Metal jewelry tells us that sporting its symbols is often a statement of rebellion, but is also a statement of power and is meant to represent an attitude of freedom and independence – like the feeling of riding that motorcycle through the wind without boundaries. In addition, historians indicate that the skull symbol is not meant to represent death, but rather the undying soul and afterlife. This has long been interpreted from the use of the image in the Middle Ages to depict fertility of life, and by images of winged skulls on graves representing the deceased’s soul rising to heaven.

With the ever-rising cost of gold and silver, the use of stainless steel offers the opportunity for those without enough wealth to obtain pieces of this jewelry, whether rings, bracelets, necklaces, or pendants, to purchase such items in stainless steel without the high cost. Bikers should be excited to have this low cost alternative.

Since families, retirees, older women, weekend professionals, etc. have begun forming biker groups and riding for vacations, the appeal of heavy metal, and particularly biker jewelry, has greatly broadened its market. Stainless steel products will allow these new middle-class bikers to round out their sport with traditional biker symbols.

Improving Trend of Biker Rings and Jewelry

The trend of motorcycling, in general, gained much popularity back in the 1950s and has not entirely died down since. With the increase in the popularity of motorcycles, came the rise in love for biker jackets, Biker Rings

and jewelry. Biker jewelry has been worn by male and now even female bikers for a long time. They are usually made of metal. jewelry for bikers includes the following accessories:

These jewels are readily available in retail stores or even online for example at the biker rings shop. To increase this trend in Biker jewelry, retailers are taking a three step approach.

If we were to continue the same old trends that were in fashion ten years ago, few new people would be enticed by the biker trend. Some shops announced they are creating a line of biker jackets and jewelry inspired by popular DC character, Wonder Woman. Fanssteel.com introduced biker rings like cross rings and bishop rings with a more minimal and streamlined design than that was popular back in the day, also contributed to increasing the trend by using ancient jewelry-making techniques for biker rings.

Women are not behind men at all in the fashion of Biker jewelry. Women wear the same skull rings and diamond earrings as part of the biker trend. The creation of the Wonder Woman-inspired jackets and accessories are like a warm welcome for women.

The trend has spread to women all over the world, even as far as India where earlier this month, around twenty-eight women came together to celebrate International Female Ride Day. This amplified the trend of female motorcyclists in India.

This event further boosted the trend because breaking stereotypes is in fashion now. There is an all-female motorcycle club in California.

Since women are naturally more attracted to accessories than men are, we also see the trend of Biker jewelry rise among women.

1%er outlaw biker

If you read the papers or listen to the news, the media and law enforcement agents have redefined the term "1%er". The term was first used in the 60’s to describe some of the people that attended the motorcycle events back then. The AMA (American Motorcycle Association) stated that 99% of the people at their events were god fearing and family oriented. The other 1% were hard riding, hard partying, non mainstream type people. Thus the term 1%er was born. Some of the early bikers embraced the term and decided to call themselves 1%ers. It did not mean that they were law breakers or low life individuals. They were simply men that rode their motorcycles seven days a week in all kinds of weather, liked to drink and raise a little hell. Sometime during the 80’s law enforcement changed the meaning of the 1%er to what they wanted it to represent. It didn’t matter that their meaning was incorrect, they just spoon fed it to the general public and the courts as they had so many other things.

Motorcycle Clubs are rich in history and tradition. One of those traditions is the wearing of a 1%er patch on our vests and referring to ourselves as a 1%er club. The 1%er definition as we see it is one that explains our commitment to Biking and Brotherhood. We ride our motorcycles every day rain or shine. We ride thousands of miles each year with our Brothers to attend parties, social events, funerals and just plain spending time together. We work, have families and do all the things that our neighbors do. In addition to that we belong to a Brotherhood that we are able to combine with our day to day lives. To say that 1%er’s are criminals or people of a lesser moral code than the rest of society is a tainted opinion.

· What kind of personality or lifestyle does the recipient has (e.g. tendency for rough work would require proper settings)?

· The setting for the center diamond and sidestones greatly determine the look and stability of the ring. A solitaire will emote a clean, classic feel, while additional stones and detailing will give the ring a more intricate appearance.

· One of the most important aspects of the ring is the fit. Be sure to ask if the ring you are considering can be resized, as some designs cannot be altered once they are finished. Here are some suggestions to help you find the perfect size

·

·

· What is your budget?

· The first step in selecting a ring is to decide on a price point. There are no rules when it comes to how much you should be spending. If there’s concern about meeting design elements within your budget, a qualified Maker will be able to offer alternatives to fit your requirements. Research your options and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Once you have a fair idea of what you want, it would be great if you could sketch out the design on a piece of paper. Once you complete that, snap a photograph of it and send it to us. We will contact you to ask you to provide more information and an estimated quote for your ring.

After you confirm the quotation and production lead time, We will make your design with CAD and will print your CAD wax, Some the wax are made by hand.

Then the wax will be casted as the mother mould. Repaired the mould and make into a rubber mould, we will create the mould of the size you want.

The last step is to cast your ring and polish them and plate, enamel, setting, etc.

When selecting a maker, it is important to research the portfolios on our site, and to ask questions regarding price, process, and timing. You want to work with someone who is clear, responsive, and displays a deep understanding of your vision. In need of inspiration? Jewelry care How to Clean Stainless Steel Jewelry

Stainless steel jewelry can be cleaned with a steam cleaner or hot water and soap to remove dirt embedded in diamond bezels or between links. Ultrasonic cleaners may be used on stainless steel jewelry without gemstones.

How to Clean Stainless Steel Jewelry

Stainless steel jewelry is popular because it is lightweight and has a trendy look. It can last a long time and look like new if you keep it clean. It is not hard to care for stainless steel, but there are a few things you need to know so that it doesn’t get dull. Below are steps you can do to remove dust and dirt from your stainless steel jewelry

Steps

1. Get a lint-free cloth that is non-abrasive.

2. Put warm water in a small container with two or three drops of a mild dishwashing liquid.

3. In a second container, place warm water without any soap.

4. Use the cloth dampened with water to gently scrub your piece of jewelry.

5. Use a soft toothbrush with plain toothpaste to scrub any grime from etched areas.

6. Place your jewelry in the warm rinse water.

7. Use a dry cloth to wipe away the water so that there are no spots.

8. Polish your stainless steel jewelry with a polish or polishing cloth. Then Finished.

Keep in mind, however, that toothpaste is abrasive. If you decide to use it for cleaning, make sure it is a non-whitening brand that does not contain silica, and use a soft cloth to rub the paste onto your pieces. Don’t forget to rinse the jewelry thoroughly after you are done.

An alternative to these cleaning methods is to purchase a stainless steel cleaner from the store and follow the instructions on the package.

Maintaining and Storing Stainless Steel Jewelry

Although stainless steel jewelry doesn’t tarnish or corrode and doesn’t require special care, it can scratch. That’s why you should wear and store your pieces in a way that minimizes any contact with other items that can damage your stainless steel jewelry. If your jewelry does get scratched, you can always have it professionally polished by a jeweler.

Store your stainless steel pieces separately from jewelry made of other metals. It is best if you keep your stainless steel items in individual bags or pouches.

How to custom make the pendant

custom pendant is a one-of-a-kind piece that let you express your personality. A signature necklace helps show off your uniqueness and ensures that no one you know has a similar piece in his or her jewelry box. A custom pendant also makes a wonderful personalized gift for someone you love. Before you start looking for a custom pendant , keep a few things in mind, including price, the size of the piece, the desired materials, and style.

Budget

custom pendant range quite a bit in price. They can start at as little as $1 and cost over $3,000. Materials often dictate the cost of a pendant. Metals such as gold and platinum cost more than silver and copper, for example, and gems such as diamonds and rubies cost more than opal or topaz stones. Purity also plays a role in price. High carat gold costs more than lower carats, and clear gems are pricier than those with imperfections. Size can also affect price, as larger pendants use more materials than smaller ones. Finally, intricate pieces take more time to craft than simple ones, so those are usually more expensive. Before you buy, work out a budget to help you find ideas that fit within your price range.

Size

Pendants generally hang from chains, so that limits their size to a certain extent. Still, size can range from very small and delicate to larger than a key ring. If you want to buy a pendant that comes with a chain, you should also consider the chain's length. Chain measurements are described in inches, so measure around the neck or an existing chain to find the right size for yours, depending on how low you would like the pendant to hang. Many people opt for their pendants to rest at collarbone level or just above the breast.

Materials

Most custom pendants use metals as their main materials. However, many incorporate other materials such as stones, shells, and wood into their design.

METALS

Metal is a common material for pendants. It is sturdy, attractive, and durable. High quality metals such as gold, platinum, and sterling silver are common in finer pieces. Copper, bronze, and gold or silver plated metals are also popular choices.

STONES

Many pendants have stone settings. High-end options include gemstones such as rubies, sapphires, diamonds, and emeralds. Other quality stones include opals, topaz, and aquamarines. Some pieces include stones such as quartz, turquoise, jade, or other polished rocks.

OTHER MATERIALS

Makers sometimes incorporate other materials into their pendant designs. Options include:

· Shells

· Wood

· Bone

· Glass

· Plastic

Style

Historic style periods are common ways to describe jewelry. Although most custom pendants are new creations, historic design periods can serve as helpful guidelines for describing style.

ANTIQUE STYLES

Antique styles include the Victorian and Romantic periods. Pieces in these styles tend to be elaborate, intricate, and dramatic.

VINTAGE STYLES

The vintage styles of the turn of the century include Art Nouveau and Belle Epoch designs. These pieces are often simultaneously intricate and elegant and draw inspiration from nature. Vintage styles of the 1920s and 1930s are usually termed "Art Deco." Art Deco-inspired pieces favor bold designs, geometric patterns, and vertical lines.

RETRO STYLES

In the jewelry world, "retro" usually refers to jewelry from the 1940s and 1950s. These pieces have an "old Hollywood" flair to them, with bright colors and sparkly settings. Many people also use "retro" to describe 1960s and 1970s-inspired designs. These pieces tend to be chunky, geometric, and colorful.

MODERN STYLES

"Modern" or "contemporary" designs usually do not incorporate any recognizable design element from the past. These pendants are often sleek and sophisticated. Some designs borrow from several periods at once.

How to custom make the bracelet

Bracelets are a wonderful way to express your personality and individual style. Retail stores often carry bracelets, but they are unlikely to offer exactly the bracelet you want. Often, the craftsmanship is less than exacting, leading to broken links and loose elements. Made with skill and care, custom bracelet can incorporate every kind of design and material, from wire and beads to precious metals and gemstones. Keep a few basic tips in mind to help you commission one or several custom bracelet that will look great and last for years.

Budget

custom bracelet can cost anywhere from $10 to over $10,000, depending on the intricacy of the design and the materials. Precious metals such as gold and rare silver-white metals such as platinum, rhodium, and palladium add expense to the budget. Precious gems such as diamonds, deep green emeralds, pearls, and opals add beauty and cost to a piece. Not every bracelet falls into the fine jewelry category, leaving many affordable options open for bracelets made with new and upcycled leather, beads, glass, and lustrous sterling silver. Designers can help you dovetail the design you want with materials to satisfy your budget.

Size

A bracelet should be large enough around to fit over the wide part of the hand, but small enough to stay put securely. In general, if you have a very small or large frame, a bracelet's width should be in proper proportion. However, a slender gold chain looks good on any wrist, and small women can carry off a chunky bracelet if the rest of her outfit is simple. Dark materials add the illusion of size and weight, and light-colored materials have the opposite effect. Measure your wrist at the wrist bone and your hand at the widest part. Keep in mind that heat can cause your wrists to swell slightly, which should be accommodated when sizing your custom bracelet.

Styles

Bracelet styles range from simple and elegant to rustic, funky, or ultramodern. The basic bracelet forms can be transformed reflect any style.

BRACELET TYPE

DESCRIPTION

Bangle

Rigid circular bracelet; can be worn solo or combined

Charm

One or more dangling charms on chain or cord

Cuff

A wide bangle with a narrow opening to place on wrist

Identification

Bangle or chain integrating flat element to engrave words or symbols

Link

Flexible bracelet in numerous designs; usually made of metal with optional stones and other adornments

Tennis

Flexible bracelet of in-line diamonds or other gems

Wrap

Flexible bracelet of leather or other material, tied around wrist

When creating a custom bracelet, you can combine elements of several bracelet types. For an eclectic look, a wide chain can be closed with a silk or leather cord, and then finished with a thin metal plate to inscribe an inspirational phrase. Another creative look combines upcycled elements such as polished bicycle chains, coins, or even repurposed jewelry such as earrings or rings.

Materials

Custom bracelets can be made of a multitude of materials. Precious metals are used frequently, especially lustrous yellow and white gold, sterling silver, and valuable silver-white platinum. Also in the platinum family are palladium and the rare and expensive rhodium. Other metals such as copper, stainless steel, and silvery-white titanium are good choices for bracelets. Metal can be formed into fine to thick chains, hammered metal, large links, flat pieces linked together, and bangles. Leather and suede are naturals for use in wrap bracelets.

CHARMS

Chains are a versatile foundation for charms made of metal, glass beads, beach glass, blown glass, enamel, and wood. Charms can be made of upcycled items such as manual typewriter keys, bottle caps, keys, and stones.

Motorcycle club

The abbreviations MC and MCC are both used to mean "motorcycle club" but have a special social meaning from the point of view of the outlaw or one percenter motorcycling subculture. MC is generally reserved for those clubs that are mutually recognized by other MC or outlaw motorcycle clubs. This is indicated by a motorcyclist wearing an MC patch, or a three-piece patch called colors, on the back of their jacket or riding vest. Outlaw or one percenter can mean merely that the club is not chartered under the auspices of the American Motorcyclist Association, implying a radical rejection of authority and embracing of the "biker" lifestyle as defined and popularized since the 1950s and represented by such media as Easyriders magazine. In many contexts the terms overlap with the usual meaning of "outlaw" because some of these clubs, or some of their members, are recognized by law enforcement agencies as taking part in organized crime.

Outside of the outlaw motorcyclist subculture, the words "motorcycle club" carry no pejorative meaning beyond the everyday English definition of the words – a club involving motorcycles, whose members come from every walk of life. Thus, there are clubs that are culturally and stylistically nothing like outlaw or one percenter clubs, and whose activities and goals not similar to them at all, but still use three-part patches or the initials MC in their name or insignia. In other countries, such motorcycle clubs will adopt the abbreviation MCC.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is the largest American motorcyclist organization. It serves as an umbrella organization for local clubs and sporting events.

While organizations may vary, the typical internal organization of a motorcycle club consists of a president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, road captain, and sergeant-at-arms (sometimes known as enforcer). Localized groups of a single, large MC are called chapters and the first chapter established for an MC is referred to as the mother chapter. The president of the mother chapter serves as the president of the entire MC, and sets club policy on a variety of issues.

Larger motorcycle clubs often acquire real estate for use as a clubhouse or private compound.

Outlaw motorcycle clubs

An outlaw motorcycle club is a motorcycle subculture that has its roots in the immediate post-World War II era of American society. It is generally centered on the use of cruiser motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidsons and choppers, and a set of ideals that celebrate freedom, nonconformity to mainstream culture and loyalty to the biker group. In the United States, such motorcycle clubs are considered "outlaw" as they are not sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and do not adhere to the AMA's rules.

Skull Rings - A Biker's Jewelry For Men

Male Jewelry has always been roughed up and rugged, the making of rings for men is always easier than the making of jewelry for women as the male jewelry does not require very refined work. The appeal of Skull rings for men has been made possible by the biker gangs who in their counter culture tend to have a very strong impact over the society. The male bikers tend to wear skull shaped jewelry specifically designed for them. Skull rings were initially made of gold in the medieval times, but as time went on and the usage of skull as a counter culture item, it is now made in rather inexpensive metals such as silver, bronze or stainless steel. These Skull rings are specifically designed for men as they have no touch of feminism in them. Over the years it has only been worn by men and have been exclusively been developed or them. The innovation of machines and new forging items has also given a unique and rather stylish look to the skulls of the previous era as now the skull on a ring is engraved with a very unique style and also has stones imbedded in it which tend to provide a very grand feeling to it. The silver rings are also used as attractive jewelry by some counter culture fashion designers whereas some of the rather rich counter culture enthusiasts even developed a liking for gold Skull rings. Although these rings basically go against the normal standards of this anti-establishment culture, yet as is with the media and money fashion statements that are made by the poor are taken up by them and the ideology of the don't care attitude becomes a money making magnet. Skull is a sign of intimidation and horror, in European culture it signifies death, whereas in the American culture it signifies disregard to authority. Started as a punk rock insignia in the 70s has now spawned into a fashion statement and a counter culture item which signifies a bad ass attitude towards life. The use of human skull as an ornamental item has been part of the occult and medieval pagan rituals in old times. There are also Skull rings available in the market, which are made by the original bikers and the real Goths. They have refined and redeveloped their ideals of making Skull rings with modern technology without losing its original appeal. Goth rings have a unique style of having gothic images along with the rings, these rings differ from the biker rings as they all have dark imagery on it with the cross a very important sign. Normally associated with the Goths in Europe and with Harley bikers in the US, it was firstly and most famously worn by the phantom of the comic strip fame. That ring had more of a positive vibe to it as it was used for the good of mankind. The first dark imagery of this ring was perforated by the lead guitarist of rolling stones, the 36 year old Keith Richards in 1979, it was a gift made by his friend David Courts in London, and this was the first time that the skull on the ring was laughing death with a hood which illustrated Keith's emblematic persona about living at the edge of mortality. Over the years this ring has made a public persona of its own and is a very marketable commodity with Keith being and icon of counter culture.

Biker Jewelry Is More Than A Fad - It Is Here To Stay

A fashion fad can be defined as a popular fascination with a particular style of dressing but which doesn't last for long. When a new fashion trend hits the market people will typically rush for it with so much enthusiasm that within no time it will appear as though everyone has taken to the new trend. Apparently, no one wants to be left out of the fashion bandwagon and especially youngsters who are very keen on fashion. The downside with fads is that they are short-lived because people quickly lose interest in the styles which they are obsessing over. As soon as one style peaks another one is just around the corner; when people begin to lose interest in a current style, the new one sweeps into the market with the same force as its predecessor. Fads are therefore things that come and go and which is why many people don't take them seriously.

Whenmotorcycle Jewelry hit the mainstream fashion scene many people thought it was just another fad that would burn out like the others before it. What these people didn’t realize was that this jewelry was here to stay and that it would with time become more and more popular.

The question that baffles many fashion critics is how comes motorcycle Jewelry has ingrained itself so strongly where other fads have failed to take hold. To find out why biker jewelry has endured the tests of time we need to look at its origin. This jewelry came from motorcycle gang men. These people have developed a unique cult-like lifestyle complete with its own dressing style. Everything bikers wear is carefully crafted to portray their philosophy of independence, freedom and individuality. Bikers live rugged lives and so they prefer jewelry that brings out that side of them.

When Biker Jewelry debuted in mainstream fashion it was eagerly embraced by men and women who were not bikers because of what it represented to them. People realized that they could give themselves an image makeover simply by wearing this jewelry. Before long, celebrities became smitten too. If you look at the entertainment industry you will find that many celebrities regularly don jewelry of the biker variety. Musicians are especially fond of chains and pendants. The apparent celebrity endorsement has inclined more and more people to start acquiring this jewelry. Looking at how popular and widespread jewelry of bike origin has become, we can safely say that it is more than a fad - it is here to stay.

Men’s Jewelry: Celebrate this Father’s Day in Style

Officially celebrated once a year, Father's Day is a time specifically reserved for honoring that special man we call dad. On June 19 in the United States and other parts of the world, children, both young and old, will keep with tradition by giving unique gifts symbolizing immeasurable love and appreciation. Young fathers will be the proud recipients of hand painted pictures. Gifts of neckties, golf balls and countless silk screened t-shirts will persevere with older children. In finding the perfect gifts for dad, one thing is certain: imagination is one's only limitation.

This Father's Day, give dad a gift that is as unique as he is - fashionable jewelry. Men's jewelry is not only considered stylish; it has become increasingly favored by nonetheless men themselves. As an extension of their self, jewelry, especially that which reflects a personal belief or interest is in demand. Consider bikers. Not only are these men in black protective of their bikes, they are as equally finicky over the jewelry they wear. Known for their obsession with images of skulls and flames, bikers have become equally fascinated with pendants and other silver jewelry symbolizing their passion.

When it comes to selecting the perfect piece of men's jewelry for Father's
Day, buyers should consider three things:

Reflection - Does it reflect your dad's likes and interest?

Practicability - Is it the appropriate length and size?

Comfortableness - Is it comfortable to wear?

Jewelry should be personal

Jewelry is considered a personal gift and as such should never be bought in haste. When choosing a piece of jewelry, consider your dad's individual taste. An excellent place to start is by determining the type of metal he prefers. Does he prefer silver over gold? Once you know the type of metal he prefers, the rest is relatively easy.

Pendants, designed primarily with symbols, are known for their beauty. It is the meanings behind each symbol that makes these tokens a unique gift idea. Because pendants can easily be removed, they afford users flexibility in creating certain styles. The cross necklace, a symbol of faith, is extremely popular among men as well as the Star of David Shield. As different symbols have separate meanings, consider these questions when selecting a pendant: Is your dad an adventurer? What are his strong points? Is he a protector or is he creative? Knowing the answers to these questions in advance will help you to choose the perfect pendant.

A gift of jewelry tells your father that he's an important part of your life. When given a piece of jewelry that represents his interest, not only are you saying that you love him, your acknowledging what matters most to him.

Jewelry should be practical and comfortable

Men are known for being tough, dirt tough with many preferring the outdoors over being inside. Since men are now wearing jewelry for longer periods of time, jewelry should be practical as well as comfortable. If your dad finds chain necklaces uncomfortable, braided and leather chokers are alternatives now available. Jewelry that is both comfortable, as well as practical, gives dad the flexibility in wearing his jewelry longer and more often.

When celebrating this Father's Day, be sure to spend quality time with your dad. Be creative. Consider your dad's interests and incorporate those into the day. If your dad enjoys fishing, take him on a surprise fishing trip. If a Harley Davidson or Honda Gold Wing is more your dad's style, suggest taking a ride together. This Father's Day, take time to slow down and create memories that will last a life time.

biker jewelry (2)

A History Of Celtic Jewelry

The Celtic people, or Celts for short, dominated mid and western Europe for a thousand years. Now, many of the Celts descendants can be found dispersed in parts of Ireland and the Scottish highlands.

Traditionally, the Celts transferred knowledge of their culture through word-of-mouth and it was because of this that no documentation on their history can be found on these people who became proud warriors, merchants, and rulers. Little is known about them prior to their contact with the Greeks and Romans. While history is not well-documented during the nomadic times of the Celtic people, the generally accepted history is that the modern styles of Irish Jewelry are greatly influenced by the Huns, Druids and Celtic culture in what is referred to as modern Europe today.

The art of Celtic jewelry making is at its core an enchanting and magical one because of the mystery and meanings surrounding its designs. Not only beautiful pieces of art, many pieces of Celtic jewelry possess excellent jewelry craftsmanship. Adopting ideas drawn from nature and applying these simple motifs and knot-work to the overall design, they produced intricate jewelry designs out of gold, silver, and bronze. Besides Celtic rings, many of their designs are found on bracelets, earrings, and pendants.

It was between 200 BC to 500 AD that precious metals such as gold and silver were fashioned into items such as gorgets, sleeve and dress fasteners, discs, bracelets, Lunulae, and torcs. Many of these beautiful works of jewelry art are now found in the National Museum of Ireland today. While it was possible that Celtic art was incorporated into materials such as wood and textiles, this cannot be confirmed as none of their works have survived over the years.

The Celtic style of jewelry underwent further refinement from the Irish monks. Out of their inspired development came the Celtic cross and the most treasured of ancient manuscripts, the books of Kells, Lindisfame, and Durrow. Its beauty and craftsmanship eventually attracted buyers across the Mediterranean and as a result, Celtic jewelry became one of the highly sought after items by traders and merchants.

At present, Celtic jewelry is very popular around the world and excellent pieces of Celtic jewelry can still be found from those jewelers employing the same traditional jewelry making techniques of the skilled, ancient Celtic goldsmiths. Many of the popular designs seen today include artwork derived from the ancient manuscripts. While the Celtic people as a clearly identifiable ethnic group are now long gone, their proud heritage of jewelry making lives on, especially in places where many of their descendants live today.

Celtic rings and jewelry can be bought from brick-and-mortar jewelry stores but for the best selection and craftsmanship, go online or visit a specialty Irish jewelry store. If you are particular about quality, be sure to check that the jewelry originated from Ireland or Scotland. This is especially so if you are buying it as a wedding ring or engagement ring. For mass market silver Celtic jewelry, these can be found in abundance offline and online.

How Culture And Religion Has A Profound Influence On Jewelry

An example of jewelry and religion impacting nations can be seen in the treasures preserved in ancient Egypt. Statues of Egyptian gods and goddesses were fashioned in gold, adorned with gemstone and precious metal symbols. A majority of the religious emblems like the lotus, scarab and others were used as motifs in bracelets, necklaces and rings, which adorned the higher echelons of the society as well as priests and priestess.

The stages in historical epochs and the rise of different religious practices, and their impact on jewelry, can be observed in the ancient cultures of Greece, Asia, Africa and other nations across the world. When Christianity was exposed to the Egyptian culture, a radical change was observed: Jewelry items using less gold and inexpensive gemstones began to dominate.

Another transformation in jewelry began with the spread of Islamic influence on Egyptian jewelry. Islamic religion forbade the use of gold by the men-folk, and this led to the slow transition with silver beginning to be the primary metal in making jewelry. The influence of Christianity on jewelry is still evident today. The commonest religious symbols are the Crucifix and the Hebrew Star of David. The Christian crucifix is believed to be the most widely recognized religious symbol in history while The Star of David symbolizes a strong belief in Jewish faith and good fortune.

Rings, bracelets and necklaces, which flaunt the Symbol of Cross, identify the person as a Christian. Similarly, the Christians have strong faith in Rosary beads, bearing the Cross, that are used during prayers. These prayer beads are embellished with gemstones and baubles of different types. Another powerful ornament in Christian jewelry is the ring, which signifies certain tenets of faith like chastity and purity. Baptism, a sacred and very important rite among Christians, has heralded the growth of numerous pieces like rings, pendants and pins. Such ornaments are commonly gifted to the baby during the ceremonial event.

Similarly, Hindu gods and goddesses of India have a major influence in the creation of jewelry items. Certain types of ornaments are worn at specified periods of the year during festivities, and this trend is governed by the culture and religion of the nation. Other ranges of jewelry materials and themes are available. These comprise of medals and pendants depicting saints, gods and goddesses, prayer beads, pins and rosaries. The most popular religious jewelry is designed out of the precious metal gold, but sterling silver is also used. For embellishment purposes, gemstones are extensively utilized.

Nowadays, religious jewelry has carved out an influential position in the jewelry market and is steadily creating its niche clientele. The designing of these motifs and symbols reflect the impressive creativity and craftsmanship of the artisans. The contemporary designs are attracting the young generation, compelling designer jewelers to create innovative designs by blending fashion and faith

Ancient Egyptian Jewelry - Five Facts You Didn't Know About Egyp

We all know a lot when it comes to the jewelry piece. We know the designer of the jewelry, its name, its materials and the like. What we don't know is why that certain piece of jewelry is made, what it means or what was its purpose. There have been evidences that suggest that Egyptian jewelries have certain purposes and meaning and here are the 5 facts you didn't know about Egyptian Jewelry:

Fact 1: Jewelry has a Purpose

Egyptians wear jewelry for a lot of reasons but the main reason was to protect them from any hostile forces. It is believed that certain jewelries can help prevent evil spirits from taking over someone else's body in a form such as a curse disease or sickness. Even today we wear some jewelry that should bring us good luck or prevent us from harm like the rabbit's foot, tiger's eye, and tear drop crystal. The only difference today from the ancient Egyptians that instead of precious jewels like ruby or diamond, they used well-crafted stones like the turquoise and Lapis Lazuli which is in fact the most precious material to them.

Fact 2: Gold is Not Just a Symbol of Wealth

To us today, gold only means one thing and this is wealth. The Egyptians however have a different meaning for using gold in their jewelries. Gold is a representation of the fire and the glory of the sun, flesh of the Gods and the most important of all, the eternal sense of being.

Fact 3: Shells are used As Jewelries

The use of shells today as a form of jewelries is not that common. For Egyptians, the use of shells such as the cowrie shell protects them from the Evil Eye. It is also believed to keep them safe from any harm and thus some women wear it around their pelvic area to avoid the chance of aborting a child.

Fact 4: Scarab Beetles

Some of the Egyptians' jewelry has a scarab beetle designed on it. It represents the Sun God Ra whom people worship regardless of their class in the society. It was also believed that Ra was the one who created man using his tears.

Fact 5: Jewelry Symbols Are Not Just For Design

We always see jewelries with breathtaking symbols but are not really sure why the symbol is there. Egyptian jewelries use symbols to represent the religion. The symbols often used are animals, magical signs and Gods. They also believed that by wearing something that has a symbol that represents the Gods can protect them from all the evil spirits.

Biker Jewelry

Biker jewelry, or rock n roll jewelry, was the first type of theme jewelry to cater almost exclusively to men, utilizing bold motifs and masculine designs to represent power, freedom, strength and rebellion. Once thought to be reserved for bikers, outlaws or rockers, biker jewelry has entered the mainstream fashion realm for both men and women.

Biker jewelry, or rock 'n' roll jewelry, is less conservative than various types of jewelry and carries more weight and substance. Biker jewelry is easily identifiable owing to its bold statement and trademark masculine look, often created using thick and heavy metals such as silver and stainless steel. The most popular jewelry pieces are the "cross pendant" and the "skull ring"

The good thing is you do not have to be a biker, or live the biker lifestyle, to wear and appreciate biker jewelry. The biker represents the ability to ride free, to flaunt your own style without boundaries and to live on your own time. Wearing biker jewelry is a statement of freedom and independence.

In the world of Biker jewelry, boldness, designs and motifs matter. Commonly used motifs include dogs, eagles, skulls, daggers, roses, snakes, wings, stars, crosses, lion heads, dragons, and flames

SKULL BIKER RINGS

Dark and Edgy: Popularity of Skull and Biker Rings

There is no symbol more sinister than the skull which is why many biker clubs incorporate it in their logos. A macabre image that represent death, skull imagery has been adapted in fashion by many popular designers and has remained a relevant and intriguing style throughout the years. An interesting design, the skull and its incorporation to biker-related culture is gaining popularity once more has been propagated more styles in the jewelry market today.

Among the most popular accessories that use the macabre symbol are Skull rings and biker rings. The reemergence of biker culture and style in the mainstream attention can been traced to the growing trend of relatable “rogue” characters in current television series and films. Popular series like the Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead portray characters with the rough and dangerous edge, which appear to be a hit to many viewers and brings back the dark style of skull rings. And even though skull rings and biker rings are nothing new in the jewelry market, it is interesting to see that such dark symbols still remains interesting for many people and like the color black or leather textile, never seems to go out of fashion.

Probably, one of the reasons why macabre and dangerous symbols like skulls appeal to many people is due to its mystery. Humans are said to fear things that they do not understand but it also goes to show that the opposite can be observed. Even in the ancient times, death has always fascinated people and many cultures view it as an integral part of life… for life to have meaning, it should have an end. And being that the skull is one of the most recognized symbols for death, popular culture’s fascination and attraction to it can shed light to how it propagated even to fashion and style.

In relation to the biker subculture, skulls have been used by many biker clubs in their patches and identifications for years. As any view riding a motorcycle a rather dangerous activity and the crime-related behavior that many outlaw biker gangs got associated with, it was fitting to see the skull in the subculture. Usually, skulls seen in biker subculture context also incorporate other symbols like winged skulls (for the Hell Angels) and the Grim Reaper (as seen in the fictional club of the TV series Sons of Anarchy). The evolution of the symbolism and the modifications that adds on to the original meaning of the skull let the icon survive throughout the years.

Skull rings and biker ringshave become popular today due to many factors. Its rich symbolism, the intriguing aesthetic, the dark association to a dangerous subculture, all combined to get the interest of many customers who are not afraid to take their style to a new level. There are a lot of advantages in selling edgy jewelry like Skull rings and biker rings.today. One is that the design is interesting enough to pique the interest of customers due to its unusual style. Rings are also very subtle pieces of jewelry that rarely clash with outfits due to their small size, unlike necklaces or bracelets. Improvements in manufacturing and materials used like 316L stainless steel ensures that skull rings and biker rings have higher quality today and have greater detail compared to those made from previous years.

Some retailers may be afraid to carry rings due to the perceived risks associated to stocking the jewelry. But year after year, rings are seen to be highly popular accessories; and even men who do not like wearing jewelry can still be persuaded to wear a ring. This fact can be a great advantage and by offering this jewelry to customers, retailers can effectively increase their revenue. Biker rings and skull rings with the right designs can attract male customers, though the range of its appeal do not stop there as women also show interest to dark and edgy aesthetics.

About Stainless steel Jewelry

About Stainless steel Jewelry

In metallurgy, Stainless Steel is defined as a ferrous alloy with a minimum of 10.5% chromium content. The name originates from the fact that Stainless Steel stains, or rusts, less easily than ordinary steel. Stainless Steel has higher resistance to oxidation (rust) and corrosion in several environments. High oxidation resistance in air at ambient temperature is normally achieved with additions of more than 12% (by weight) chromium. The chromium forms a layer of chromium (III) oxide (Cr2O3) when exposed to oxygen. The layer is too thin to be visible, meaning the metal stays shiny. It is, however, impervious to water and air, protecting the metal beneath. Also, when the surface is scratched this layer quickly reforms. This phenomenon is called passivation by materials scientists, and is seen in other metals, such as aluminium. When Stainless Steel parts such as nuts and bolts are forced together, the oxide layer can be scraped off causing the parts to weld together. When disassembled, the welded material may be torn and pitted, an effect that is known as galling. There are different types of Stainless Steels: when nickel, for instance is added the austenite structure of iron is stabilized. This crystal structure makes such steels non-magnetic and less brittle at low temperatures. For higher hardness and strength, carbon is added. When subjected to adequate heat treatment these steels are used as razor blades, cutlery, tools etc.

The AISI defines only Type 316 for food and surgical Stainless Steel uses; Alloy addition of molybdenum to prevent specific forms of corrosion; equivalent to ISO A4.

The ASTM & ISO have a standard for wrought stainless steel used for surgical implants. It is called ASTM F-138. The ISO specification 5832-1 is included in this spec.

The material composition covered by this specification has been employed successfully in human implant applications in contact with soft tissue and bone for over a decade

The number 316 stands for the type of stainless steel; it's basically a formula for the mixture of elements that make up this alloy. The L stands for a low carbon content

316L stainless steel - a hard wearing alloy highly resistant to corrosion and chemicals. Stainless steel is virtually maintenance free and is highly resistant to scratches. 316L Stainless Steel provides superior corrosion resistance and higher resistance to pitting. Stainless steel can be worn by many people who cannot wear other types of jewelry due to allergic reactions.

Reasons to Buy Stainless Steel Jewelry

It’s tough, predictable and low-maintenance. The name says it all: stainless steel. Stainless steel resists tarnish, corrosion and oxidization, something that can’t be said about competing materials like sterling silver. Stainless steel’s toughness and easy durability means that it’s not easily scratched or dented, and unlike accessories made from notoriously hard tungsten, stainless steel jewelry is also not likely to crack.

Stainless steel men’s jewelry further maintains its attractive look by being extremely low maintenance. While a buffing cloth should take care of most surface debris, a simple homemade wash of warm water and mild dishwashing soap will quickly remove anything more persistent.

It’s inexpensive. Stainless steel is one of the most cost-effective metals on the market today, with many steel jewelry items starting in the low double digits. Stainless steel men’s jewelry is effortlessly within the reach of even the most humble budget, yet still offers a certain quality and durability that guarantees its longevity, even with daily wear.

It’s hypoallergenic. Most stainless steel jewelry is made from 316L surgical steel, a low carbon version of superior grade 316 steel. Stainless steel’s hypoallergenic and biocompatible properties make it ideal for anyone with sensitive or allergic skin, and reduces the likelihood of skin irritation to virtually nothing.

It’s adaptable. Finding the perfect stainless steel jewelry is easy, as it is readily available in a number of items and styles. Popular stainless steel products include men’s rings, pendants, necklaces, bracelets and watches, although the list certainly doesn’t end there. While the image automatically brought to mind by the term stainless steel jewelry may be that of a light gunmetal grey item in a brushed finish, available colors and finishes for stainless steel men’s jewelry can vary greatly.

Because stainless steel is somewhat softer than some other contemporary materials, it also allows for a greater variety of designs and decorative accents.

one percent biker --Biker gangs are the "One Percent&am

The term "One-Percenters" originated from the July 4, 1947 motorcycle rally held in Hollister, California. The rally, which was attended by approximately 4,000, captured media attention after a fight broke out between two motorcycle clubs, the Boozefighters and the Pissed Off Bastards.

Life magazine ran a pictorial series of the annual rally which sparked both fascination and concern about the violent, unruly nature of the growing subculture of motorcycle groups.

he event became known as the "Hollister Riot" although there is no real documentation that an actual riot occurred.

Afterwards, films about motorcycle clubs with members depicting bad behavior began hitting the movie theaters. The WILD ONE, starring Marlon Brando, brought particular attention to gang-type behavior displayed by members of motorcycle clubs.

The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) defended the reputations of its members to the press, stating that 99 percent of bikers are law-abiding citizens, but there's that last "one percent" that are nothing more than "outlaws."

The term caught on and new motorcycle gangs emerged, called the "one-percenters," which included the Hells Angels.

Dave Nichols is author of a new book that pulls back the veil of secrecy surrounding outlaw biker gangs. It describes how they became known as "One Percenters" following the infamous 1947 Hollister motorcycle riot. The American Motorcycle Association issued a press release blaming the violence on a small minority of bikers, saying that "99 percent of motorcycle riders are good citizens."

there is certainly a distinct ring of truth in the old biker motto, that states:

"When we do right, nobody remembers. When we do wrong, nobody forgets!"

Biker Skull Rings – Human Skull Symbology

One of the most popular biker rings would have to be the skull rings. There are now literally thousands of different designs out there to choose from. The materials they are made of are as varied as stainless steel, titanium, gold, silver, in fact just about any material that’s been used for other rings are used to make these cool rings. You can even get them with stones embedded, diamonds for those who can afford them all the way down to worthless pieces of glass.

But one thing that has interested me, is what does the human skull actually represent. If you asked ten people this same question, most if not all would say it represents death and perhaps is a reminder of our own mortality. Whilst this is a nice thought (yes, I really did just say nice), is that all there is to it? Or maybe there are other meanings to this symbology.

In doing a little research I found that over the centuries, and in some cultures even today, there have been a number of different meanings assigned to the image of the skull. One such meaning is that it represents the transcience of the material world, ie. what is here today is gone tomorrow, or something like that. Another belief is that it represents rebirth, as a passing from this life into another. It has even been used to either bring good luck or to take away bad luck, although I think they’re synonimous with eachother personally.

One of the more interesting though for me is the belief that the form of the human skull will ward off evil and perhaps even the grim reaper himself (or herself if you want). For a lot of us out on the roads with so many crazies (ie. cage drivers) around this is possibly the most useful.

Whatever you think skulls may or may not mean though, skull rings remain very popular. As do other biker jewelry and tattoos that depict the skull. In fact, maybe they’re becoming so popular I should stop wearing them myself? But then I don’t give a …..

Some Symbols

Arrow Cross

The Arrow Cross symbol derives from the Hungarian fascist political party known as the Arrow Cross Party that was active during 1935-45. Since then, various neo-Nazis and white supremacists have used the symbol themselves, either generically or as part of the logo of a specific group.

Arrow Cross

Valknot

The Valknot or "knot of the slain" is an old Norse symbol that often represented the afterlife in carvings and designs. It is often considered a symbol of the Norse god Odin. Some white supremacists, particularly racist Odinists, have appropriated the Valknot to use as a racist symbol. Often they use it as a sign that they are willing to give their life to Odin, generally in battle.

Nonracist pagans may also use this symbol, so one should carefully examine it in context rather than assume that a particular use of the symbol is racist.

SS Bolts

The SS Bolts are a common white supremacist/neo-Nazi symbol derived from Schutzstaffel (SS) of Nazi Germany. The SS, led by Heinrich Himmler, maintained the police state of Nazi Germany. Its members ranged from agents of the Gestapo to soldiers of the Waffen (armed) SS to guards at concentration and death camps.

The SS symbol is derived from the "sowilo" or "sun" rune, a character in the pre-Roman runic alphabet associated with the "s" sound. The Nazis derived many of their symbols from such pre-Roman images. Because the sowilo rune resembles a lightning bolt (with flat ends instead of pointed ends), the SS symbol has come to be associated with a lightning bolt image.

Following World War II, the SS bolts symbol was adopted by white supremacists and neo-Nazis worldwide. Most white supremacists use it in its Nazi form, as two bolt-like images with flattened ends. However, sometimes the symbol may have pointed bottom ends or pointed tops and bottoms. These variants of the SS bolts are most frequently associated with prison tattoos.

The SS bolts are typically used as a symbol of white supremacy but there is one context in which this is not necessarily always so. Decades ago, some outlaw biker gangs appropriated several Nazi-related symbols, including the SS bolts, essentially as shock symbols or symbols of rebellion or non-conformity. Thus SS bolts in the context of the outlaw biker subculture does not necessarily denote actual adherence to white supremacy. However, because there are a number of racists and full-blown white supremacists within the outlaw biker subculture, sometimes it actually is used as a symbol of white supremacy. Often the intended use and meaning of the SS bolts in this context is quite ambiguous and difficult to determine.

Triskele

The triskele (or triskelion) is an ancient symbol originating in pre-Christian Europe. The symbol consists of three curved or jointed segments spiraling from a common center. One version of the triskele, with three human legs, has been used in the coat of arms for the Isle of Man and the Kingdom of Naples. An abstracted triskele appears on the seal of the United States Department of Transportation. The triskele appears in many different variations, from a form that looks like a three-pointed swastika to forms that employ curved lines and curlicues. What they share are three segments emanating from a single central point.

The triskele was one of many ancient European symbols appropriated by the Nazis. Following World War II, the triskele became a significant hate symbol, largely because of its use by the Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB), a South African white supremacist group that formed in the 1970s. The AWB used a flag similar to the Nazi flag but which replaced the swastika with a triskele that resembled three interlocking sevens.

Because of the AWB usage, it is this "three sevens" version of the triskele that is most commonly associated with white supremacy. It is a common type of white supremacist tattoo and appears in places such as the logo for the racist skinhead group blood & honour.

White supremacists do use other variations of the triskele, too, such as curved triskeles, but so do a much larger number of non-extremists. As a result, such triskeles must be judged very carefully in their context to avoid mistaken assumptions.

Triskele

Iron Cross

The Iron Cross is a famous German military medal dating back to the 19th century. During the 1930s, the Nazi regime in Germany superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal, turning it into a Nazi symbol. After World War II, the medal was discontinued but neo-Nazis and other white supremacists subsequently adopted it as a hate symbol and it has been a commonly-used hate symbol ever since.

In the United States, however, the Iron Cross also became one of several Nazi-era symbols adopted by outlaw bikers, more to signify rebellion or to shock than for any white supremacist ideology. By the early 2000s, this other use of the Iron Cross had spread from bikers to skateboarders and many extreme sports enthusiasts and became part of the logo of several different companies producing equipment and clothing for this audience. Consequently, the use of the Iron Cross in a non-racist context has greatly proliferated in the United States, to the point that an Iron Cross in isolation (i.e., without a superimposed swastika or without other accompanying hate symbols) cannot be determined to be a hate symbol. Care must therefore be used to correctly interpret this symbol in whatever context in which it may be found.
